Tribute...

Afternoon - there are really no words to express our gratitude and thanks to the men and women of the 2nd Stryker Cavalry Regiment. For me, I wanted to capture some of the scenes from their 15 months of combat deployment to Iraq and put it in a short movie - but this was more difficult than I imagined.

Which photos make the cut? So many to choose from, including the ones taken by Chris of his squad. Not an easy choice given all our warriors have been through...

As you watch the video consider the words of the song as we remember those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice. Spend some time with those names that are listed on the right-hand side of my blog...we will never forget.

Myron, I know that over the months I have said this to you privately, but I would like to do it here on your blog. " Thank you for sharing with us your labor of love and mostly, for the friendship that you and Nancy have given to me over these past months. Our numerous emails and the HHD's that have gotten me through this. My world has expanded a thousand fold because of you. How lucky for me that you answered my call for a support group. You and Nancy are forever etched in my heart."

Myron, (the great and wonderful)!
Thank you so very much for your hard work and endless, hardworking effort on this blog. Thanks to you (and Chris), I could see my son from sleeping, shooting his weapon, talking to the Iraqi people and seeing him in his Stryker with his teammates. One of my favorites is where his group of 7 or so, are eating pizza in the desert. You can bet I saved all the pictures and many parts of your blog. I hope that is okay? Even being a couselor in a mental health agency, the folks there had no idea what I was going through. I KNEW YOU DID. I checked your blog daily and sometimes (usually) more than that. Will it stay here for ahwile? I hope so. I do want to remain friends if you could email me your address, if you are comfortable. I feel we have a connection that will never be torn apart. Just think, if we fill that way, I wonder how the guys must feel.
Thanks again for your diligence in keeping up this long, even though your sources dried up near the end, blog. We loved just knowing you were there praying for the young men (and women). Thanks for being kind to my son Shawn. He and Chris seemed to get a long so well, but most of them did.
I can never repay you for the comfort you provided for my sister, Jean, and me during this long 15 months. Please keep in touch with us. God Bless You. You touched our lives. Fondly, Gen Derrick and Auntie Jean.

@Ms Gen - thanks for the kind words. Please tell Auntie Jean we said hello.

Yes, the blog will stay on-line for the near future until I can figure out how to archive it for Chris.

My email address (collabman@gmail.com) will remain active - please use it at anytime and I will do the same.

Please tell Shawn how proud we are of him - give him a hug for us and tell him thanks for his sacrifice.

Almost home...
