Hit and Run...

U.S. Army Soldiers from 1st Squadron, 2nd Stryker Cavalry Regiment, search a damaged building in Baghdad, Iraq, (U.S. Army photo by Spc. Jeffery Sandstrum)

Happy Friday evening...

Fairly quiet news day - at least for the 2nd Stryker Cavalry Regiment. As I have said before and will say again...we will take quiet.

One article, from Multi-National Corps - Iraq, shows that 1st Squadron, 2nd SCR continues to apply pressure on criminal militia extremists near Sadr City.

To our warriors with 1st Squadron, 2nd SCR - stay tough and keep at it...we are praying for you all.

Extremists continue hit, run attacks on Coalition Forces from Sadr City
Multi-National Division – Baghdad

BAGHDAD –

Baghdad Soldiers conducting mounted patrols near Sadr City came under fire from criminal militia extremists from inside the district during two separate incidents Feb. 2-3.

Both incidents involved Soldiers with the 1st Squadron, 2nd Stryker Cavalry Regiment, working under 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division. The Soldiers were not able to positively identify the shooters in either case, and consequently did not return fire in order to avoid harming Iraqi civilians.

There have been six attacks on Coalition Forces in the Thawra 1 and Jamilla neighborhoods of Sadr City through the first three days of February. Rogue militia forces appear to be behind many of the attacks, said officials with the 2nd BCT, 82nd Abn.

I love you Chris - be safe!

Collabman, thanks for opening a blog about Iraq. I served with the 1/25 73rd engineers during OIF 3 which is now 2nd CR. I got out of the Army not because I hate it but because there were soldiers with mental problems; so i am in school now to become a clinical social worker and help our brothers and sisters with mental problems over come them. I like that you post the truth about whats going on in Iraq, keep it up. Good luck over there and stay strong my brother. you and the fellow troop are in my prayers daily. Eran
